Majini Executioner axe/hammer build
Fanime starts tomorrow and me and Elisa are attending it like always. I already knew I was going to use my Majini Executioner costume that I used from the past Halloween. I decided 2 weeks ago that I had to make the weapon otherwise my costume would look incomplete, but this was a huge project to complete in 2 weeks. I literally studied pictures of the weapon and drew out a blueprint and measurements of the weapon.
I started off with foamboard and posterboard to make the surface of the hammer, which basically looks like a huge meat tenderizer.
Then paint and assemble!

As for the axe, I was debating what type of material to use. Cardboard isn’t a strong enough material. Foamboard could crease and snap easily. Plexiglass is hard to cut because it is prone to cracking. So the easiest solution was ½” plywood. I drew the shape of the axe and a customer helped me cut out the shape. I sanded the edges, then paint.

To connect the hammer and axe together, I used Gorilla glue and clamped it for 2 hours while it dried.
Time to mount onto the pole!
The weapon has a chain wrapped around it and of course I wouldn’t use a real metal chain since it’s heavy. But I couldn’t find a chrome/silver plastic chain, so I had to get this yellow one and paint it chrome.
Here is the finished product!

I can’t wait until Fanime! I’ll post pictures after Fanime is over. Time to let my inner geek out!
Solar Eclipse (May 20, 2012)
Ever since I heard about the solar eclipse, I was extremely excited. Unfortunately, the eclipse was only partial if viewed from San Francisco, so me and my friend drove up to Chico to see the eclipse because the “ring of fire” was viewable there. It was definitely worth the drive, even though it was a scorching 92 degrees in Chico. We were looking for a park to watch the eclipse, and ended up at Bidwell Park.
I wasn’t sure on what settings to shoot it with, so I just adjusted my Nikon D5100 to the darkest setting possible: 1/4000, f/32, exposure -5, ISO100

It was pretty cool to see the crescents shapes all over the place!

College is now the past!
After 7½ years of college, I’m finally done! The only thing I’m going to miss about college is making new friends. I’m not going to miss all the homework, tests, projects, and presentations!

So much weight has been lifted off my shoulders. Now to finally live life, and try to find a full-time job.
I had a great time at the Kina Grannis concert tonight! So glad to finally meet Kina and her sisters! Kina is incredibly stunning, super friendly, and an amazing live performer!
I’m finally on the home stretch! Tomorrow is my last day of college, then graduation on Saturday!
It’s been a long journey…
…but exactly one week from today is the last day of college for me! I’m excited to finally graduate and start searching for a full-time job. I’m mentally exhausted from school, especially since I’ve been going non-stop since preschool, so it’s nice to finally be done. People keep telling me, “Once you finished school, you’re going to miss it.” I will admit that I’m gunna miss making new friends, but I’m sure as hell not going to miss all the tests, homework, projects, and presentations, that’s for sure!
I’ve been applying like crazy to all different tech companies. A lot of people tell me to shoot for start-ups, but I’m aiming for medium to large companies. If I got a job at a start-up, I’m pretty sure I wouldn’t stay for too long, just long enough to gain some experience. But if I landed a job with a big company, I wouldn’t have to keep jumping to different companies and instead just climb up the corporate ladder. For now, I’m just looking for Desktop/Tech Support jobs just to get my foot in the door, but I eventually want to land a Database Admin job or something along the lines of that.
Well, just a group presentation, two tests, and an individual presentation left and I’m free!
This dog is such a lazy ass. Elisa has her leg on me and Baby’s sleeping on Elisa’s foot.
Elisa loves this coffee crunch cake from Yasukochi’s Sweet Stop so I drove all the way out to Japantown to get her cake for her birthday.
